Welcome
to the Southern Great Barrier Reef,
a region increasingly known as 'the jewel of the reef'.
Tranquil, inviting, naturally beautiful. Explore 21 coral reefs including
Lady Musgrave Island, a unique coral cay and lagoon of dramatic beauty.
These idyllic islands straddle the tropic of Capricorn and are home to
the most significant turtle and sea bird nesting sites on the Great Barrier
Reef.
Lady Musgrave Island is a great spot for camping with a Pisonia forest
interspersed with open glades.
Anchorage has a large deep lagoon which provides very good safety. The
reef and lagoon offer exciting diving.
The Town of 1770 is a headland 6 km north of sister town Agnes Water,
surrounded by the Joseph Banks National Park with a coastline fringed
by the Coral Sea. |
